57INTRODUCTION
Fellow Hubbers, and other readers why is it that I’m not surprised (as the title would suggest) that President Barrack Obama would back the Mosque at ground zero in New York City. The headlines of the article hit me smack in the face this morning, Saturday August 14, 2010 on Yahoo. He made this announcement Friday evening at a Ramadan opening celebration (funny thing I don’t remember other presidents even attending these events, but I could be wrong). One thing I’m sure of is no other president bowed, and kissed the ring of the Saudi King during his apology tour of the entire Muslim world.

FEARS AND HOPES
During the election season in 2008 I had fears that candidate Obama was a Socialist (if not a Communist) radical. I had my doubts about the legitimacy of his citizenship along with his proclamation that he was a Christian. The words that he heard in Rev. Wright’s Church seemed very radical and un-Christian to me, and we still haven’t seen an actual birth certificate (a certificate of live birth is not the same). Where are the college transcripts? What is Obama hiding? These are some of my fears back during the election.
I also had some hopes during the election season of 2008. I hoped that if elected as president that Barrack Obama would step up to the plate and lead the country as a good American. Metaphorically he was in the shoes of men like Jackie Robinson breaking the baseball color barrier. Jackie was a stellar performer once given the chance. I had also hoped as a young man growing up in the 1960’s that all this crap about race could be put behind this great country, and who better to fulfill this hope than our first black president who offered, “Hope and Change” in a “Post Racial” society.
COLD HARD REALITY
In the light of cold hard reality I must state that my hopes for Obama have been dashed. Referring back to the Jackie Robinson metaphor, Jackie played the game skillfully and with great determination, but he also played by the rules, as they existed. When Jackie stole home during the World Series he stole it from third base not first base. In other words Jackie played by existing rules and excelled, and he didn’t try to change all the rules of baseball. I wish that I could state the same about President Obama, but I can’t he seems to make up new rules as he goes along. I will state some examples below:
- No other American president in history has bowed and scraped before foreign leaders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- The only other American president in history who has pressed to pass so many Constitutionally questionable laws is Franklin D. Roosevelt. Changing the rules is second nature to Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I’m so sick of “The Blame Game” I want to barf. Bush has been out of office for 18 months now and all of Obama’s major legislation has been rammed through congress. Where are the jobs he promised? I have heard it said that regarding age 60 is the new 40 is it also true as far as unemployment rates go under Obama 9.5% is the new 5.5%?
- Mr. President I plead with you enforce the rules, as they exist. Quit trying to steal home plate from first base. Stop the bleeding on the southern border. Seal the border first and then talk to us about immigration reform. We made that mistake during Reagan’s presidency, and were not buying it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I know you are an apostate of Saul Alinski but please tone down your radical behavior. The USA is in danger of being lost for all future generations!!!!!!!!
- Last but not least please speak to us eye to eye and stop being so arrogant and superior when your performance on the job hasn’t earned it even a little bit!!!!!!!!!
- I stopped here because I think these examples are sufficient although there are many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CONCLUSION
I am an eternal optimist, and I can only hope that President Obama will see the light, and change his way of governing for the sake of the greatest nation ever to exist on the face of the Earth, The United States of America. I want my grandchildren to grow up in freedom and liberty as I did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having stated the above I have my doubts that Obama can make the necessary transition to traditional American president!!!!!!!! Folks our way of life is at stake and we must take the bull by the horns in November of 2010, and elect representatives with true American Values!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sake of all future generations is at stake!!!!!!!!!!!!
SAVE AMERICA NOW THERE’S NO TIME TO WASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom, did you read vrajavala hub on Michelle my-belle trip to Spain. That she actually met with Jesse Jackson Jr and a bunch of Muslims in Spain. This is all starting to unfold! We are being betrayed!

Tom, I don't feel betrayed as I voted against him and expected this kind of thing from him, it's the dense uninformed voters who betrayed me, they put him there and a thousand times we can rid ourselves of barry but the stupid will remain every election, 50
The president is not dumb. Whatever motivates him for what he does, we cannot know.
I don't think even his cabinet knows, for indeed he is surrounded by brilliant people.

He is The President, he can consider their advise and they can stomp their feet, pound their wrists on the table, etc etc..but ultimately he makes the decisions and there is nothing they can do about it, except resign..lol..:-)
I only want to say this, Tom, from a few people that I know..
Even some of the people who were at first very strong supporters of him are now rethinking...some of those paid thousands of dollars to meet him ...

Obama said many disturbing things during the campaign--such as wanting to redistribute income. Even though I am no fan of McCain I voted Republican.Obama may not be dumb but he lacks wisdom, which may or may not come with experience.
I am concerned about prophecy about false Messiah is coming and set world government. It is not going to be pretty. Also remember Muslims have the mosque in Jerusalem? It became second holy place on the world.Now they claim the country. Is New York to be the third?

I agree he also troubled me prior to the election, but I tried to be hopeful. I agree he lacks wisdom but that could be a result of being abandoned by his father at an early age. Regardless we can't afford his on the job training program and we need a wise leader now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time he does something like this more people wake up to what he is. And that's good.
He went from being a Lieutenant to commanding the ship overnight. The far left is turning on him. The right is looking for life boats. He needs to humble himself and do what is right for the people...or the ship will go down.

Tom I am not at all surprised by Obamas support for the mosque. Lets face the facts the citizens of this country and their votes no longer matter. Bloomberg supports the mosque,and David Patterson wanted to give some funds from the broke state of New York to promote Islam, which I doubt will happen. But in spite of the voices of opposition nationwide and at levels of Government from the Presidency to your local city council all have turned deaf ears to their citizens and voters will be out with a vengeance in November. We have to vote all of these losers out. America is a ship without a rudder right now.

Obama would back legalizing murder if the Left whined loud enough. Oh wait he already does, by condoning abortion.
The only hope America has is if Obama has a radical change of heart from his radical mindset, or if he's booted out of Office ...like.....SOON, way before 2012. He's done more damage to America's morals and morale than the terrorists ever could've.

The Mosque is a sick idea. When Muslims conquered Jerusalem the first thing they did was build a Mosque on the most sacred site of the Jews.

Ya know, if you actually watched thepress conference you'd have seen that he didn't praise the mosque being built. He said, and I quote:
Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”
“That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances,”
And today he made this statement:
“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there,”
“I was commenting very specifically on the right that people have that dates back to our founding. That is what our country is about.”
I presume you understand he is defending the concept of religious tolerance, which is in truth a happy thing in my book.
If you want to hate the guy, have fun. Do what you have to do. :)
BTW, I like that bit, that cold hard "reality" stuff. Not a sinlge solitary fact in there! As commentary it's nice, but not one fact. Its cute! I like it! It really is pretty funny.

Tom, I agree that "many" were fooled, but many were just not listening. In 2008 I listened to a radio poll asking voters how they felt about obamas pick of palin as a running mate and a list of other equally turned questions, 1 out of 10 would say "hey, wait a minute" I heard so much along those lines it was truly amazing, we'll never really know the reasoning behind all the votes, but I've got a good idea of many votes and the reasons they were cast. This is a really great FACT-FILLED hub regardless of what that leftie loon up there said. I, and most folks I know, do not have ANY problem with mosques, but THIS particular location is thoughtless, senseless, and uncaring to so many Americans. Is that an example of building bridges? No matter how the mainstream media wishes to spin it, Obama clearly effectively endorsed the building of this mosque against the wishes of the majority of Americans. It doesn't matter how well he parsed his words to try to please his Muslim friends and yet not openly indict himself -- he said what he said. And what the heck was he doing at a Ramadam celebration? Was there a golf tournament nearby? Yeah, right.
Great hub, and like you I hoped for the best from Obama for America, instead it is becoming the worst of all I could imagine so long ago.

I am not anti-Islamic. In my view it has not a thing to do with religion even. Muslims are welcome in this country, and religious freedom is welcome in this country. So long as we all wave the American flag proudly and... with honor as American patriots, I don't care what your faith is.
But under no circumstance do you allow something like a Mosque to be built on land at or near where the 2nd greatest attack on our nation occurred by people who directly associated their attack with Islam, radical or otherwise, and who cleary made their attacks in the name of Allah.
This was an act of war, and a Mosque would be a victory monument for radical Islamic terrorists all over the world. It would also serve as a massive insult to anyone who lost a family member on September 11, 2001 at the hands of terrorists, whose children have died in the service of their country in Iraq, Afghanistan, and frankly in any war this country has ever fought.

Well, I'm not afraid nor ashamed to say that I DO have a problem with mosques, period! They don't belong in America! And although it's commonly believed that it's legal, I do not believe so. However, since supposedly it's legal, I also retain my right to say I say I believe it isn't legal. But I don't go around opposing them and trying to get them shut down, normally. The subject of the one in New York is simply an outrage and should be nipped in the bud ASAP.
I no longer care who calls me an intolerant bigot. The invasion of America from within is now being brought to light, and I will not ignore what I see happening.
